Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
• Conducting investigations and recording findings
• Understanding of accident / incident techniques
• Carrying out the duties as prescribed in the Act
• Informing management regarding any unsafe working conditions
• Compiling reports to line management regarding unsafe acts and conditions
• Facilitating and monitoring the risk assessment and the Behaviour observation processes
• Monitoring the effectiveness of the campaigns, codes of practice and proactive measures which have been put in place to support the Business Management System
• Facilitating and monitoring the corrective action process and providing feedback to management
• Receiving and collating data from inspections, incidents and observations for review by line management
• Sound understanding of Cementation Africa and client safety systems, policies and procedures
• Cementation Africa and client risk assessment methodologies and principles
• Sound knowledge of Rand Mutual processes
Minimum requirements
• Trade certificate or Blasting
• Degree / Diploma in Safety, Risk, Health, Environment, Quality, Hygiene or Training Management (preferred)
• COMSOC 1 and 2
• Investigation / Tap Root training (preferred)
• Knowledge of Electrical Engineering
• Audit certification for ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001
• Valid First Aid Certificate
• 3-5 years' mining sector experience
• Basic knowledge of mining operations and methods
• Basic knowledge of relevant safety principles and system
• Strata control knowledge
