Introduction
Cementation Africa invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Continuous Improvement Engineer to be placed in Tharisa Mine. The successful candidate will report to the Safety Manager. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.
Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

•    Continuously monitoring, analysing, and optimising site work programmes and operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs
•    Leading structured change management initiatives and ensuring improvement plans are implemented within approved timelines.
•    Analysing and interpreting operational data, project reports, inspections, and observations to identify inefficiencies and provide actionable recommendations
•    Ensuring that all processes, policies, procedures, and standards within the project scope are effectively implemented, following appropriate risk identification and mitigation
•    Building and sustaining sound, trust-based relationships with clients, suppliers, project teams, and cross-functional stakeholders
•    Effective self and team management and alignment with Cementation values and leadership initiatives Driving alignment with Cementation values, leadership principles, and operational excellence initiatives
•    Promoting a strong safety culture by integrating continuous improvement principles with SHEQ objectives

Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
•    Grade 12 or equivalent
•    Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field at NQF Level 7
•    Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt (preferred)
•    Exposure of Primavera Software (Advantageous)
•    Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) - ( Advantageous)
•    Proficient in Microsoft Projects, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Visio (essential)
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
 
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
•    10 years of related experience within the mining industry
•    At least 5 years’ experience in a Continuous Improvement Engineering role.
•    Demonstrated application of statistical analysis, lean methodologies, and structured problem solving techniques.
•    At least 5 years of experience performing the role of a continuous improvement engineer including the application of statistical methods, lean methodologies and producing statistical in-depth report
•    Minimum 5 years exposure to Trackless mechanized mining methods preferred
•    Knowledge of primavera software would be advantageous.
