Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
• Effective, efficient and timeous administration of the full payroll and month end functions of in-country and offshore payrolls, in line with country statutory laws and company policies, standards and procedures
• Electronic and hard copy data processing, retention and control ensuring data integrity and a smooth processing routine
• Effective planning and organising to ensure no process, payment, reporting or deadlines are missed
• Daily maintenance of control registers such as payroll calculations, timesheet processes and monthly / annual control checklists
• Verify Sage 300 payroll calculations integrity via system checks and manual payslip checks
• Balance reports to the database and password protect before despatching
• Comply with country statutory laws and company policies, procedures and standards
• Effective stakeholder engagement with sites and other departments to ensure smooth payroll workflows
• Assist with training of payroll department staff, management, staff and service providers
• Proactive payroll risk identification and mitigation in line with company standards, policies, procedures
• Effective self-management to ensure alignment with company values
Minimum requirements
• Minimum National Diploma: Payroll Administration Services NQF Level 5
• BCom Accounting / Finance / Human Resources Management (advantageous)
• Registration with the South African Payroll Association (advantageous)
• Proficient in Sage 300 Payroll system (essential)
• Proficient in MS Office (Intermediate Excel essential)
• Exposure to JDE or similar ERP system (advantageous)
• Sound numerical reasoning with the ability to manually calculate all elements on a costing report
• Ability to calculate and sign-off severance packages, inclusive of BCEA calculation methodology
• Proactive, inquisitive, strong administration, planning and organising skills with the ability to produce quality output
• Unwavering confidentiality and discretion
• High attention to detail and level of accuracy in all tasks
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain a professional demeanour
• Good English written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate effectively under pressure
• Minimum 4 years of extensive processing, capturing and auditing experience on Sage 300 payroll system (essential)
• Minimum 4 years manual reconciliation and interrogation of payroll postings to JDE or similar ERP system (essential)
• Experience working on a payroll of more than 1500 employees, preferably in a mining or construction environment
• CATS / BDB banking system experience advantageous
• Knowledge of RMA statement of earnings calculation
• Knowledge of and ability to apply, laws relating to POPIA, BCEA, Severance, COID and PAYE statutory laws
