Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
•Lead and supervise the daily tasks of the surveying team in line with regulations, company procedures and standards to obtain data used to inform mine planning operations
•Honest, effective survey and valuation services to support mine performance
•Measure advances of faces and determine cubes and profile excavations
•Calculate volume of material deposits, spoil piles or veins and amount of overburden to be removed
•Survey, map and calculate volume of material deposits, spoil piles or veins, overburden to be removed
•Survey civil construction work and verify the civil layout and accuracy of work performed to ensure correct execution of construction work
•Identify survey data needed for underground work as per daily planning schedule
•Prepare and verify survey plans and measures via internal checking processes, to ensure mining is done according to layouts and project scope
•Draught layouts and DME plans; update and maintain mine survey plans
•Use SharePoint as a repository to maintain accurate document control and records of survey plans, drawings, mine ventilation and rescue plans etc.
•Accurate monthly and daily survey measurements and reporting
•Issue survey layouts in conjunction with planning
•Assist with project proposals, design layout and pick-up of drill/blast & digging areas
•Effective communication of plans, provide appropriate information to project teams
•Proactive identification and mitigation of mine survey risks
•Self and team understand and comply with legal regulations and EMS policies, procedures, standards, and safety protocols
•Effective self and team management in alignment with EMS values
Minimum requirements
•Advanced Mine Surveying Certificate issued by the Chamber of Mines [Essential]
•Advanced Mine Valuation Certificate [Essential]
• MS Office proficient [MS Projects, Excel]
• Proficient in mine survey / planning software (Microstation advantageous - type of software is site specific]
• Proficient in survey software (Winminop, pegslite, etc. type of software is site specific)
• Proficient drawing and preparing professionally detailed survey notes, holing notes, stop notes, etc.
• Valid EB driver’s license
• Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness
• Physically fit to carry survey equipment / tools
• Ability to supervise a team
• Ability to interact with client survey / management teams on survey and planning related issues
• Good English verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in mine valuation and sampling
• Experience interpreting and updating plans
• Experience in survey / planning software applications
•Experience in survey / planning software applications
•Sound knowledge of layouts and excavation design preparations
•Knowledge of trackless mining and development
•Knowledge of development board and pillar mining
