Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
• Provide effective and timeous administrative support to the site safety team
• Accurately capture and maintain safety data daily on the various safety management systems, including safety officer reports and VFL reports
• Maintain monthly accident / incident registers and corrective action logs, submit timeously to stakeholders
• Timeously verify and confirm the injury status of affected employees through the site medical station or hospital
• Monitor daily the absence of every injured employee and accurately record the shifts lost
• Timeously upload injury reports and supporting documentation onto the safety management systems
• Accurately complete and submit DMPR reports for all injuries and incidents within timelines to the client’s administrator
• Follow up on outstanding documentation following investigations and monitor completion of assigned actions
• Maintain records of safety-related legal appointments and assist with tracking safety specific statutory documentation
• Proactive risk identification, mitigation, and compliance within area of responsibility
• Perform duties in line with policies, procedures, standards, safety protocols, and ISO certification requirements
• Effective stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth workflows and timeous receipt / communication of safety related information
• Effective self-management in alignment with company values and leadership initiatives
Minimum requirements
• Office administration or similar qualification at NQF 5 or relevant National N6 Diploma
• MS Office proficient [Word and Excel]
• Exposure to SharePoint, or similar software
• Administrative competence with high attention to detail
• Planning and organising skills
• Numerical reasoning skills
• Confidentiality and discretion
• Customer service orientation with ability to liaise at all levels
• Good English written and verbal communication skills
• Must be physically fit for the role
• Experience in a health and safety environment, preferably in the mining industry
• Basic understanding of the Mine Health and Safety Act or Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Knowledge of COIDA (advantageous)
